Custom event packaging boxes

A Halloween box that arrives on November 2 is waste paper. Pick the date you are packing for and you get the box that suits it, the board it runs on and the week you need to order by.

Tell us the event, the size of the product going inside and how many you want to run. A price and a dieline come back together.

No account needed, and no setup or tooling fee on any order. Prefer to talk it through? Call +1 703 350 4739, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm EST.

When should you order custom packaging for events?

Count backwards from the date rather than forwards from today. Subtract one week for delivery and then subtract the production window that applies to your board. Add two more weeks when the artwork is not finished because artwork is what actually holds most seasonal jobs up. Holiday packaging lead time is therefore four to six weeks in practice rather than the production figure on its own. A Christmas carton on rigid board wants to be settled in early October.

What changes when event packaging has a deadline?

We are an event packaging manufacturer rather than a broker, so every order is printed and die cut at our own plant in Neptune New Jersey. The minimum is 100 boxes per size and no order carries a setup fee or a tooling fee.

Three things behave differently once packaging is tied to a date. Artwork gets approved later than anyone plans for so the dieline has to be signed off separately and earlier. Volume lands in one burst rather than spreading across the quarter which means the whole run prints at once. The design also returns next year with small changes so the structure is worth settling once and keeping.

What board and finish suit seasonal packaging?

Caliper follows the weight of the contents and the size of the panel rather than the occasion itself. A 50 g confectionery carton holds its shape on 14pt SBS while a 500 g candle in a jar needs 18pt or 24pt. Anything heavier than 1.5 kg belongs on corrugated where we run E flute at 1.5 mm and B flute at 3 mm. Seasonal packaging that has to feel like part of the present goes on wrapped rigid board instead.

Finishing carries more weight on event work than on ordinary retail because the box is handed over rather than shelved. Lamination and soft touch and spot UV and foil stamping and embossing all run here. Foil suits a date that repeats every year.

What do we need in your event packaging file?

Send vector artwork as a PDF or an AI file placed on our dieline with 3 mm of bleed measured outward from the cut line. Name your Pantone colors rather than leaving them as unnamed swatches because a converted build picks its own and a seasonal red shifts on press. Keep the dieline on its own layer and set that layer not to print. Our design team fixes all of this at no charge.

What are the minimum order and the lead times?

  • Minimum order: 100 boxes per size. Each size needs a die of its own, so sizes are counted separately rather than added together.
  • Production, folding carton and corrugated: 8 to 10 business days from the day you approve the dieline rather than the day you order.
  • Production, rigid and wrapped: 10 to 12 business days from dieline approval, which is why gift and presentation work books earliest.
  • Plain sample: 3 to 5 business days, unprinted, so you can check that the real product fits before anything is printed.
  • Printed pre production sample: 7 to 10 business days on your own board with your own seasonal artwork on it.
  • Short run holiday packaging: Runs under 1,000 units print digitally, which suits a limited seasonal design that will not repeat.
  • Bulk event packaging: Longer runs move to offset, where price steps down at 500 units and again at 1,000 units on the same artwork.
  • Shipping: Free across the United States.

What else do buyers ask about event packaging boxes?

The answers below cover the minimum and the lead times and the board and the artwork. Send us your three dimensions if your own question is not here.

What is the minimum order for custom event packaging boxes?

The minimum is 100 boxes per size. Sizes are counted separately rather than added together because every size needs a die of its own. A Christmas run of two sizes is therefore two lots of 100 rather than one lot of 200.

How early should I order custom packaging for a holiday?

Work backwards from the date rather than forwards from today. Subtract one week for delivery and then subtract 8 to 10 business days for folding carton or 10 to 12 for rigid. Add two more weeks when the artwork is not finished yet.

Can I reuse the same event packaging design next year?

Yes and the reorder is simpler because we already hold the die and the plates. We charge no setup fee and no tooling fee on any order so there is nothing to pay again.

What board works best for seasonal gift packaging boxes?

Caliper follows the weight of the contents rather than the occasion. A 50 g confectionery carton sits on 14pt SBS while a 500 g candle needs 18pt or 24pt. Presentation work that has to feel substantial moves to wrapped rigid board.

Do you print short runs of event packaging boxes?

Yes and the route depends on quantity. Runs under 1,000 units print digitally which suits a limited seasonal design that will not repeat. Longer runs move to offset where price steps down at 500 units and again at 1,000 units on the same artwork.

Can I get a sample of my event packaging before printing?

Yes and you can choose between two different kinds of sample. A plain structural sample takes 3 to 5 business days and arrives unprinted so you can check the fit. A printed pre production sample takes 7 to 10 business days on your own board.

What file format do you need for holiday packaging artwork?

Send vector artwork as a PDF or an AI file placed on our dieline with 3 mm of bleed measured outward from the cut line. Name your Pantone colors and keep the dieline on its own layer set not to print.

Where are your custom event packaging boxes made and shipped from?

We cut and print them at our own plant on Oxonia Ave in Neptune New Jersey rather than passing the job to a broker. Shipping is free across the United States. The production team answers on weekdays between 9am and 6pm EST.

How do you get a price for your custom event boxes?

Tell us the event and the three dimensions of the product going inside and the quantity you want to run. A price and a dieline come back together and you will know the same day whether your date is still reachable.
