Our terms

100 boxes minimum, per size and design
Each size and each design needs its own die, so they are counted separately rather than added together.
No setup or tooling fee
Not on your first order and not on any reorder. The die and the plates sit inside the unit price.
8 to 10 business days
Production starts the day you approve the dieline, not the day you first get in touch.
Free design support, in house
From setting your file onto our dieline to building the artwork from scratch.
Free 3D mockup of your box
We build one from your approved artwork and send it over, so you can see the finished box before anything is printed.
Free shipping across the US
Included in the quoted price. Export orders are quoted separately.
Lower minimums on bigger boxes
Rigid boxes, corrugated boxes and larger sizes run below 100. Ask us for the number that applies to yours.

These are the same answers we give every buyer who calls. The only one that moves is the minimum, which comes down on rigid, corrugated and larger boxes.

How To Order Custom Boxes

Four steps take you from a first message to boxes on your dock. Most of the work happens before anything reaches a press, and you hold a decision at three of the four stages.

  1. Tell Us About Your Product

Send your product size, the packed weight and the quantity you need. We come back with the board grade and the box style that fit, and a unit price you can hold us to.

  2. Approve Your Dieline

Upload artwork as a vector PDF or AI file and we check it against our artwork guidelines for bleed, resolution and Pantone colors. If you have no artwork yet, our team draws it on our dieline for you.

  3. Check a Real Sample

A plain structural sample takes 3 to 5 business days and a printed sample takes 7 to 10. You hold the actual box before the full run starts.

  4. Production and Reorders

Your boxes are packed and shipped as soon as the run is off the press. The die stays with us afterwards, so a reorder needs no new tooling and no second approval round.

Start Your Quote

Price breaks come at 500 units and again at 1,000 on the same artwork.
Ask for both numbers if your first order sits just under one of them.

Why buy direct from the box manufacturer?

A broker takes your order and passes it on to a printer. Four things work differently at The Customized Boxes because we are the printer ourselves.

You deal with the press, not a broker

Printing and die cutting both happen in our own building in Neptune. Nothing goes out to a third party so nobody adds a margin on top of ours and nobody else sets your schedule.

You get a dieline before anyone quotes you

Our generator draws the flat for any structure we make once you name the board and the dimensions. Download it, hand it to your designer, and keep the file either way.

The board is picked for the job

Corrugated goes on transit work and rigid goes on retail while kraft suits a natural look and double wall handles weight. We name the board in the quote so you know what you pay for.

Color that holds across the whole run

Brand colors are matched against CMYK and Pantone references rather than by eye. Foil and embossing and spot UV all run on the same job with inks that resist scratching and fading.

Boards we run, and what each one is for
BoardHow it behavesWhat it suits
Corrugated cardboardMulti layered and shock absorbentShipping boxes and mailers
Rigid paperboardThick and shape retainingLuxury packaging and electronics

Heavier products usually want a higher GSM or a move to double wall. Tell us how heavy a filled box will be and we will name the one that applies. There is more about how we work on the about page.

What should you read before you order custom boxes?

Three guides that cover the parts of a first order people get stuck on, written by the same team that runs the presses.

Common questions about ordering custom boxes

The five that come up on almost every first call, answered with the same numbers we would give you on the phone.

Why is the minimum 100 boxes per size and per design?

A die is cut for one set of dimensions and plates are made for one artwork, so two sizes or two designs are two separate jobs rather than one bigger one. Under 100 units that setup work outweighs what the run is worth. The figure does come down on rigid, on corrugated and on anything physically large, so send your measurements and we will tell you where it lands for your job.

How long does a custom box order take to produce?

Folding cartons and corrugated boxes need 8 to 10 business days. Rigid and wrapped boxes need 10 to 12 business days, because there is more construction work in them. Both counts begin at your dieline sign off rather than at your first message.

How much bleed do you need on custom box artwork?

3 mm on every edge, on top of the trim size shown on the dieline. Name your Pantone colors inside the file as real swatches rather than writing them in an email, because a named swatch is what the press operator matches against.

Does printing custom boxes in four colors cost more than one color?

Yes. Every additional color needs its own plate and its own pass on an offset press, so four sits above one. That gap narrows sharply on short digital runs under 1,000 units, which is worth knowing while you are still testing a design.

Which products have a minimum higher than 100 boxes?

Printed plastic cups start at 5,000 per size and per design. Dry offset printing needs plates and a mandrel made for that one artwork, and only volume spreads that work across enough units. That cost sits inside the price per cup rather than arriving as a separate line.

More detail on files, bleed and color sits on the full FAQ page.

How do you get a quote for your custom boxes?

Tell us the box style, the dimensions of the product going inside and how many you want to run. A price and a dieline come back to you together, and you can check the structure before committing to a run.
