What Did FDA Actually Decide About CBD?
FDA said it is not apparent how CBD products could meet the safety standards for dietary supplements or food additives. It then stated that it does not intend to pursue rulemaking allowing the use of CBD in dietary supplements or conventional foods.
The agency added that it would continue to take action against CBD products, and that it would work with Congress on a new regulatory pathway. That pathway hasn’t arrived and the January 2023 position still stands.
What Does That Mean for the Carton?
It means the panel structure of a supplement does not belong on a tincture box.
| Panel element | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| Supplement Facts heading | Leave it off, since the product is not a lawful supplement |
| Structure or function claims | Leave them off, because a claim to treat or relieve anything is a drug claim |
| Statement of identity | Required, and it names the product plainly |
| Net contents | Required, in the bottom 30 percent of the front panel |
| Ingredient list | Required, with the carrier named |
| Name and place of business | Required |
| Batch or lot number | Include it, so a certificate of analysis ties to the bottle |
We set the required elements first and give the design what’s left. That order avoids a redraw after the artwork is finished.
Why Is a Tincture Carton Tighter Than a Dropper Carton?
Because a tincture is an extract in alcohol or glycerin, and the bottle carries a dosing scale on the dropper in most ranges. That dropper assembly adds height a catalog figure leaves out.
| Bottle | Published size | What we measure instead |
|---|---|---|
| 30 ml amber euro dropper | 3.5 by 1.25 inches, 18 mm neck | The filled bottle with the dropper fitted |
| 100 ml amber dropper | 110 by 40 mm, 18 mm neck | The same, since the height may exclude the cap |
Send us one filled unit and we build the dieline from what it actually measures.
Which Board and Structure Should a Tincture Box Use?
| Specification | What we run |

| Insert | Die cut card cradle or foam bed so the glass cannot move |
| Coatings | Matte or gloss lamination, soft touch or aqueous coating |
| Artwork | Vector PDF or AI on our dieline, 3 mm bleed, Pantone identified |
