What Sizes Do Custom Patisserie Boxes Come In?
Custom patisserie boxes and small pastry boxes come in any size, because we cut each one from the pastry plus 6 mm in length and width. The height adds at least 10 mm above the tallest point of cream or fruit so the lid never touches it.

Which Box Style Suits Tarts, Eclairs and Cake Slices?
A lift off lid suits tarts, a window tuck box suits eclairs and a gable carry box suits cake slices. The lift off lid comes straight up, so it never drags across a glazed top.
A gable box folds into a handle on top so your customer carries four slices home in one hand. Eclairs slide on a flat base, so a card insert with a slot for each piece holds them apart.
A PET window of 150 to 250 micron shows the glaze, sits 6 mm from any fold and stays clear of the cream. Cream and butter on the base then raise the question of food safe board.
Is a Patisserie Box Safe for Cream and Butter?
Yes, because all our pastry packaging is food grade SBS that meets FDA food contact rules. Those rules sit in 21 CFR 176.170, which covers paperboard that touches aqueous and fatty foods such as cream, custard and buttery pastry.
An aqueous barrier coating on the inside face holds back butter and oil, and we never print the food side. The TAPPI kit test, known as TAPPI T 559, measures that grease resistance level before the full run. With the inside safe for food the outside can carry your brand and the facts a buyer needs.
What Goes on the Outside of Custom Pastry Boxes?
Your logo and colors go on the lid, and a label panel goes on the side or base if you sell the box packed at retail. We print these customized boxes in offset CMYK or Pantone on the outside only, with hot foil, spot UV, embossing or lamination.
Packaged food sold at retail carries a product name, net quantity, ingredient list, allergen statement and the maker name and address. The FDA Food Labeling Guide sets out each of these lines. Boxes you pack and sell over your own counter often fall outside those rules.
