What Size Box Does A Candle Jar Need?
Measure the jar at its widest point and add 6 mm, then measure the height with the lid on and add 4 mm. That is the inside of a tuck end carton that closes square and holds the jar without rattling once the partition is in. The table runs that rule for four common jars.

Why Does A Jar Candle Need An Insert?
Because the box wall cannot hold a round jar on four sides and the gap at the corners is where the jar swings. A cardboard partition in 350 GSM board, cut to the jar diameter plus 2 mm, fills those corners and keeps the glass off the wall. It adds no thickness to the carton and almost nothing to the cost. Which Board Suits Candle Jar Packaging?
SBS at 350 to 400 GSM for a jar that sells on a shelf, because it takes full CMYK and foil and holds one pound without bowing. Kraft candle boxes at the same weight for a natural look. E flute at about 1.6 mm when the carton also travels alone in the mail. A candle shipping box in B flute goes around it when the jar ships direct. Every one of them takes an aqueous coating on the inside face, because fragrance oil wicks into bare board within weeks and shows through as a ring.
Should A Jar Candle Box Have A Window?
Yes when the wax color or the jar is part of what sells, which on a jar candle it usually is. The patch is 150 to 250 micron PET film over a die cut aperture held to about 1 mm. Keep the aperture on the front panel and 15 mm off each corner. The corners carry the crush load, and a window there costs the carton its strength.
