What Box Size Does a Taper Candle Need?
Internal length is the candle length plus 4 mm. Internal width for a pair is twice the base diameter plus 6 mm and internal depth is the base diameter plus 4 mm. The 4 mm covers board and fold, and the 6 mm takes a center divider.

Why Do Taper Candles Break In Stock Boxes?
A stock box is cut to a fixed size, which fails on a taper for three reasons. A taper has almost no contact with the carton wall, so a few millimeters of slack become a swing at the tip where the wax is thinnest. Beeswax tapers are brittle and snap at the tip, while paraffin and blended tapers soften and arrive curved after a warm delivery.
Pair packing is the third reason and the one most often missed. Tapers sell in twos, and two loose in one carton knock together all the way. A center divider in the same board stops that, and gift sets of four or six use a channel insert from the candle box inserts page.
Which Board Holds A 13 Inch Panel Flat?
A taper carton is long and narrow, so the panel needs stiffness rather than cushioning. Folding carton board at 350 to 400 GSM measures 14 to 18 points of caliper and holds a 13 inch panel without bowing. At 300 GSM that panel flexes in the middle and the candle carries the load.
Kraft candle boxes at the same weight give that stiffness with an uncoated surface. Pick the board from the longest size you run, because a board that holds 13 inches also holds 7.
Can Taper Candle Boxes Have A Window?
A window earns its place on a taper more than on most candles. The color and finish of the wax are most of what the buyer is choosing. The patch is 150 to 250 micron PET film over a die cut aperture held to about 1 mm. Keep the aperture off the long edges, because a slot down the center of the face holds its shape better than a wide opening on a narrow carton.
