Which Box Fits A Wax Melt Clamshell Or Snap Bar?
A carton for a clamshell, a sleeve for a snap bar and a tray box for melts sold without plastic. Inside size is the pack plus 4 mm each way, which lets a clamshell drop in and still closes square. The table gives the inside sizes for the three common formats.

Why Does Wax Melt Packaging Need A Grease Barrier?
Because the oil load is higher and the wax touches the box. Fragrance oil wicks into uncoated board and shows through white as a gray stain, and on a snap bar sleeve it reaches the print within days. An aqueous coating on the inside face stops it and adds one pass to the print run. Soy and coconut blends soften from about 100F, so the carton also has to keep the bar flat on a warm doorstep. A 350 GSM board does that and a 250 GSM board does not.
Can Wax Melt Boxes Replace The Plastic Clamshell?
Yes, with a six cavity paper tray in 400 GSM board with an aqueous barrier, sealed inside a carton with a window. The tray holds the cubes apart the way the clamshell does and the whole pack recycles with paper once the window film is lifted off. Kraft candle boxes use the same uncoated board. We do not print a biodegradable or compostable claim on any box. Those words carry a legal test in the United States and need a certificate behind them.
How Do Wax Melt Boxes Print?
A window of 150 to 250 micron PET film is the one feature most wax melt boxes carry, because the buyer chooses by color and scent name. Kraft with one color print reads as natural and costs the least, and full CMYK on white board carries a photograph of the scent. The snap bar sleeve prints on all four faces, so the scent name sits on the end for a shelf stacked edge on.
