Which Tuck End Style Suits Soap Bar Packaging?
Reverse tuck end is the standard for soap bar packaging because its tucks close from opposite panels and it runs at the lowest board cost. Straight tuck end closes both ends from the back panel and leaves the front clean for a window or full bleed art. Whichever tuck you pick, the carton works only when the inside fits the bar.
What Size Should a Bar Soap Box Be?
A bar soap box should measure 3 mm over the bar on length and width and 2 mm over its height inside. The table applies that rule to the six bar shapes we cut most often.
| Bar | Bar size in inches | Bar size in mm | Inside box in mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz guest bar | 2 x 1.5 x 0.75 | 51 x 38 x 19 | 54 x 41 x 21 |
| 3 oz bar | 3 x 2 x 1 | 76 x 51 x 25 | 79 x 54 x 27 |
| 4 oz bar | 3.5 x 2.5 x 1 | 89 x 64 x 25 | 92 x 67 x 27 |
| 4.5 oz loaf cut bar | 3.25 x 2.5 x 1.25 | 83 x 64 x 32 | 86 x 67 x 34 |
| Round 3 in puck | 3 across x 1 | 76 across x 25 | 79 x 79 x 27 |
| Square bar | 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.25 | 64 x 64 x 32 | 67 x 67 x 34 |
Measure the largest bar in the run, because hand cut bars shift by 2 mm or more. The same inside size also sets the footprint when you pack three bars together.
How Do You Pack Three Soap Bars in One Box?
Three bars pack side by side in one carton that is three bar widths plus 3 mm across. For three 4 oz bars that comes to 92 x 195 x 27 mm inside. A multipack that ships on its own moves up to E flute at about 1.6 mm so the corners survive the trip. Gift sets with ribbons and inserts belong on our soap gift packaging page instead. Single box or multipack, the layout of the panels decides how fast a shopper reads your bar.
How Should You Lay Out the Shelf Face and Label Panel?
Put the brand, the scent and the net weight on the shelf face and move every other line to the side and back panels. A true soap that meets 21 CFR 701.20 answers to the CPSC instead of the FDA. Our artwork guidelines show where the tuck flaps and the glue strip sit so nothing important lands on a fold. With the panels planned on the dieline the order takes only a few minutes.
