Which Custom Halloween Boxes Do Brands Order Most?
Brands order five styles of Halloween gift boxes and Halloween treat boxes most. They are favor boxes, treat boxes with a window, cupcake boxes, rigid gift boxes and mailers for orders that ship.
| Style | Best for | Common inside size | Board |
|---|---|---|---|
| Favor box | Trick or treat bags, party favors | 76 x 76 x 76 mm | SBS 300 GSM |
| Treat box with window | Cookies, candy apples, fudge | 152 x 102 x 51 mm | SBS 350 GSM with PET window |
| Cupcake box | 4 or 6 frosted cupcakes | 164 x 164 x 100 mm | SBS 350 GSM with insert |
| Rigid gift box | Chocolate and candy gift sets | 200 x 150 x 50 mm | 1.5 to 2 mm grayboard |
| Mailer box | Online orders and subscription drops | 254 x 178 x 76 mm | 1.6 mm E flute |
Every size in the table is a starting point, because we cut each one to your product plus 6 mm. Halloween cupcake boxes use the same insert holes as our custom cupcake boxes. Treats and candy also raise a food contact question before the print goes on.
Is Halloween Candy Packaging Safe for Direct Food Contact?
Yes, our Halloween candy packaging runs on food grade SBS that meets FDA food contact rules. Hard candy and other dry treats in Halloween candy boxes fall under 21 CFR 176.180. Chocolate, cookies and frosted treats fall under 21 CFR 176.170 for fatty foods.
A water based barrier on the inside face holds back butter and cocoa butter, and we never print the food side. Candy that arrives individually wrapped never touches the board at all. With the inside settled the outside can carry the look of the season.
How Do You Print Halloween Packaging That Stands Out?
Halloween packaging stands out with deep black, bright orange and one metallic accent, printed in CMYK or Pantone with hot foil on top.
Large black areas print as a rich black built from all four inks, which looks deeper than black ink alone. A matte or aqueous coat stops those dark panels from showing scuffs and fingerprints on the shelf.
Our guide to foil stamping explains how a silver or copper accent catches light on a dark box. If you sell the box packed at retail, the label lines follow the FDA Food Labeling Guide. The last question is when to order so the boxes arrive in time.
When Should You Order Custom Halloween Boxes?
Order printed custom Halloween boxes at least 28 business days before your sell date, counting each step back from that date.
| Step | Business days |
|---|---|
| Dieline and artwork approval | 3 |
| Printed sample | 7 to 10 |
| Production after approval | 8 to 10 |
| Free shipping across the US | 3 to 5 |
| Total with a printed sample | about 28 |
A plain sample in place of a printed one saves about 5 business days. The same plan works for the next holiday, so many brands book their christmas treat boxes on the same artwork run.
