Tealight Candle Packaging

A tealight is the smallest candle you sell and the one most often sold in a dozen. The cup is about 38 mm across and 16 mm tall, which is why tealights rattle in any box that was not cut for them. Twelve loose cups scuff each other and the wax picks up fiber from the board on the way.

The Customized Boxes is a direct packaging manufacturer in Neptune, New Jersey with production in house. Tealight boxes here are cut to the pack count you sell, with a divider grid in the same board.

How Many Tealights Go In One Box?

Six, nine, twelve and twenty four are the counts we see most, and each one has its own grid. The cell is 40 mm square for a standard 38 mm cup, which leaves 1 mm each side so the cup drops in and stays put. The table gives the inside box size for each count with that cell.

Inside box size by pack count, for a 38 by 16 mm cup in a 40 mm cell
Pack count Grid Inside length Inside width Inside height
6 tealights 3 by 2 124 mm 84 mm 20 mm
9 tealights 3 by 3 124 mm 124 mm 20 mm
12 tealights 4 by 3 164 mm 124 mm 20 mm
24 tealights 6 by 4 244 mm 164 mm 20 mm

A taller cup changes only the height row. Send the cup size and the count and we recalculate the grid.

Which Board Suits Packaging For Tealight Candles?

Printed card at 300 to 400 GSM carries a 24 pack without bowing and takes full CMYK on both faces. Kraft candle boxes at 350 GSM suit an unbleached look and print one or two colors over the brown. A clear PET box at 0.3 to 0.5 mm shows the whole pack and sells on color. It is the material buyers of clear tealight candle boxes ask for by name. Clear boxes take a printed sleeve or a label rather than direct print.

Does A Tealight Box Need A Divider?

Yes, once the count passes four. Without a grid the cups slide into one corner on the first tilt and the top layer scuffs the wax below. A slotted divider grid in 350 GSM board holds one cup per cell and costs less than the print on the lid. The grids on the candle box inserts page are the same part, cut to the counts in the table.

How Does Tea Light Packaging Print?

Tea light packaging prints on the lid face and the long sides, because the base is never seen. Offset CMYK suits a photograph of the lit candle and Pantone suits a brand color across reorders. A window of 150 to 250 micron PET film on the lid shows the cups without opening the box. A gift version moves to a two piece base from the candle gift boxes range with the same grid inside.

Tealight packaging questions buyers ask before ordering

The answers below cover pack counts, clear boxes, dividers and artwork. If your question is not here, send us the cup size and the count and we will answer it directly.

What is the minimum order for tealight candle boxes?

The minimum is 100 boxes per size and per design, because each pack count is its own die. A 12 pack and a 24 pack are two sizes, so each one counts separately. Tell us the counts you sell and we will quote each one.

Can tealight candle packaging be clear so the candles show?

Yes. A clear PET box at 0.3 to 0.5 mm shows the whole pack, and the branding goes on a printed sleeve or a label because clear plastic does not take direct print well. A printed card box with a PET window is the other route and costs less per unit.

How are tealight candles packed so they do not scratch?

A slotted divider grid gives each cup a 40 mm cell with 1 mm of clearance, so the cups cannot slide into each other. Keep the box height at the cup height plus 4 mm so the lid does not press on the wax.

What artwork do you need for tealight candle boxes?

Send a vector PDF or AI file on our dieline with 3 mm bleed and the Pantone colors identified. Design support is free at both levels, so we can set your file onto the dieline or build the design from scratch.
